Thank you for visiting.

This article introduces travel booking sites for those traveling by air within Japan.

There are many travel booking sites in Japan. Among them, there is one site that I, as a Japanese, recommend.

That is “J-TRIP”!

It is one of the best travel booking sites offering cheap package tours and I have used it more than 20 times.

It is recommended for solo travelers.

Is J-TRIP available to anyone?

  • Residents outside Japan can also make booking
  • The site is written in Japanese; use of Google Translate is recommended.

J-TRIP is an online booking and can be booked by Japanese living abroad and visitors from overseas.

J-TRIP is a well-established travel agency established in 1990.

Although not as well known as Japan’s major travel booking sites such as “Jalan.net” and “Rakuten Travel,” it has been in operation for more than 30 years.

I have used J-TRIP more than 20 times and have had no problems.

It is a safe and reliable travel booking site.

Since this site is mainly displayed in Japanese, Google Translate can be used for easier viewing.

Also, payment is in Japanese yen. Payment can be made by credit card.

Destinations that can be visited by J-TRIP

  • Package tour destinations cover all of Japan.
  • Tokyo departure airport is Haneda only. There is no departure from Narita Airport.

J-TRIP sells unaccompanied package tours mainly consisting of flight + hotel reservations.

Some plans include a rental car and hotel breakfast.

Destinations cover the entire country from Hokkaido to Okinawa.

Departure points can be selected from airports throughout Japan.

However, from Tokyo, there is no departure from Narita only from Haneda.

Taking Okinawa as an example, the departure airports are as follows.

Departure point (for Okinawa)

  • Tokyo: Haneda Airport
  • Osaka: Itami Airport/Kansai International Airport
  • Nagoya: Chubu Centrair International Airport
  • Kyushu: Fukuoka Airport
  • Hokkaido: New Chitose Airport
  • Shikoku/Chugoku : Okayama Airport
  • Hokuriku: Komatsu Airport

J-TRIP Advantages

  • Cheap Rates
  • Comfortable flight on JAL (Japan Airlines)
  • Earn JAL miles and J-miles
  • Coupons received by registering for the newsletter

Cheap Rates

The biggest advantage of J-TRIP is its low price.

There are a variety of plans available, of which the free plan or early bird discount plan is the cheapest and most recommended.

You can book online anytime up to 3 days before departure.

For a 4-day/3-night (single occupancy) trip from Haneda to Okinawa, “airfare + hotel + rental car” is in the 40,000 yen range in low season.

※ 40,000 yen ≈ 268.50 USD
(converted at the exchange rate on 10/25/2022)

For two persons, the price is even lower.

Search screen of Okinawa 3 nights 4 days free plan. Easy-to-see calendar price display.

For example, a departure on January 10, 2023, the price is 42,200 yen for 4 days and 3 nights

※ 42,200 yen ≈ 283.30 USD
(converted at the exchange rate on 10/25/2022)

This plan includes a rental car.

Then you choose your flight and hotel.

As per calendar rates if you choose flights and hotels with no additional fees.

There are many hotels to choose from to suit your needs.

There are also a variety of optional tours available for trip planning.

For Okinawa, January through February and May through early June are recommended as inexpensive times to visit.

Okinawa enters the rainy season after GW in May.

However, in my five trips during that time of the year, I have only been rained on once for a whole day.

In May, the temperature is almost 30 degrees Celsius and you can feel summer a step ahead.

This is perfect for those who love summer.

Comfortable flight on JAL (Japan Airlines)

  • Checked baggage up to 20 kg with no limit on the number of pieces.
  • Comfortable with plenty of room in the seats.
  • Free Wi-Fi on board.

The plane used is JAL (Japan Airlines), a major airline.

※JTA, a subsidiary of JAL, is used for some remote islands.

When using a low-cost carrier (LCC), there is an additional charge for checked luggage, but JAL will accept up to 20 kg of luggage with no limit on the number of pieces.

【画像の説明】

JAL’s seats are comfortable, with a seat pitch of 79 cm for regular seats.

It is roomier than the standard 71 cm of LCC.

In addition, free Wi-Fi is available on board to prevent boredom.

Security checkpoints are also available until 20 minutes before boarding time, so you can use your time effectively.

Earn JAL miles and J-miles

  • JAL Miles can be earned
  • J-miles can be earned

When you travel with J-TRIP, you can earn JAL miles at a 50% accumulation rate.

For the Haneda-Naha route, there are 984 miles one way, so you can earn half of that amount.

You will earn 984 miles for the round trip.

Please note that you must be a JAL Mileage member to earn JAL miles.

J-TRIP itself also has a point system called J-miles.

You can earn 1 J-mile for every 100 yen spent on travel and can use from 1,000 J-miles.

Earn both JAL miles and J miles to save on your next trip.

Coupons received by registering for the newsletter

If you sign up for J-TRIP’s newsletter, coupons will be sent to you irregularly.

Discounts range from 500 yen to 3,000 yen

You can book even cheaper using coupons.

The coupon can be used per person or per group, depending on the time.

However, package tour prices are constantly changing.

It would be better to think about using the coupon when the timing is right rather than waiting for it to be sent to you.

J-TRIP disadvantages

No plans for long-term stays.

No plans for long-term stays

The plan with hotel for the number of travel days is up to 4 nights and 5 days.

Not suitable for those looking for long-stay package tours.

However, there are plans that allow you to extend the dates of your return flight.

If you are arranging individual hotels, this plan will allow you to stay longer.

You can stay up to 14 days by extending your return flight.

About the low-rated reviews

  • Poor telephone service.
  • Car rental is not good.

The majority of the lower-rated reviews indicate that “poor telephone service” is the most common reason.

Phone calls are limited to cases of trouble, but email or chat seems to be a good way to inquire.

I have had no trouble with J-TRIP so far. Therefore, I have no opportunity to call them, so I don’t know what kind of response they actually provide.

Other reviews include “Car rental is not good“.

It may be hit or miss depending on the car rental company.

I have actually used the plan with car rental many times and had no complaints.

The local procedures are smooth and the rental car is clean.

Finally

Among the many travel booking sites in Japan, J-TRIP is especially recommended.

I hope you have a great and enjoyable trip with J-TRIP.

Thank you for reading to the end.
