Umikaji Terrace is a sightseeing and shopping spot in Okinawa newly built in 2015.
It is located close to the airport, yet has a resort-like atmosphere that feels a bit foreign.
It would be nice to relax in such a stylish place.

Access
Senaga Island, where Umikaji Terrace is located, is connected to the main island of Okinawa by an underwater road, and can be reached from Naha Airport in about 15 minutes by bus or rental car.
(You should allow 20 minutes for traffic congestion.)
Since it is close to the airport, you can go to the airport early on the last day of your trip to check in your baggage and go light.
There is also a luggage storage area inside Umikazi Terrace, so you can go there directly without going to the airport.
Business hours are from 10:00 to 21:00. (Open all year round)
Near the bus stop. Naha Airport can be seen at the far left.
The bus stops in front of the Senaga Island Hotel.
It is nice to be able to wait for the return bus while looking at the ocean.
If you are renting a car, parking is conveniently located near the hotel and at several other locations on the island.
Please note that there are one or two buses to the airport every hour, so be careful not to miss the bus on the way back.
Also, the fare is 250 yen and is paid in cash only, so you need to have coins ready.
I thought that since it was a bus, it might be late coming, but on this day it came on time.
The return trip to the airport took about 20 minutes.
If you are going with a few people, a cab would be more enjoyable without worrying about the time.
A cab would cost about 1,600 yen ($12).
Umikazi Terrace
・Close to the airport and can stop by on the last day of the trip (20 by car or bus).
・Open all year round. Open from 10:00 to 21:00.
・Two hours is all you need to enjoy it.
A short walk from the bus stop at the top of the hill is Umikazi Terrace.
The white buildings line the slope and are divided into four levels.
There are 47 stores in total. In addition to food and sweets, souvenirs can also be purchased.
There was also a store where visitors could experience the Shamisen.
(Shamisen is a Japanese stringed instrument.)
Food prices are not cheap, but they are understandable since they can be enjoyed in an outstanding location.
Visitors can also enjoy a one-day spa (Onsen) at the Senaga Island Hotel, located just above Umikazi Terrace.
After enjoying gourmet food and shopping, you can take a hot spring bath before heading back to the airport.
The view from the top of the hill is outstanding. And the breeze is nice.
Some people were enjoying windsurfing in the ocean.
It is fun just to walk back and forth along the street, feeling the Okinawan breeze.
Umikazi Terrace is open until 9:00 p.m., but there will be a projection mapping performance at night.
(19:30~21:00)
You can go down to the beach and stroll around.
The airport is just around the corner, so airplanes can be seen nearby.
If you like airplanes and want to see them more closely, you can also view them from the underwater road on the way to Senaga Island.
There are many places to eat such as taco rice, Okinawan soba, hamburgers, steaks, etc., so it is hard to choose where to eat.
This restaurant offers many menu items such as pizza, pasta, and hamburgers.
Fishburger restaurant Eightyman’s Seaburg
I decided to go into a restaurant called Eightyman’s Seaburg.
The store number is 41 and on the map it is the fourth row, upper left.
The terrace seats are open and pleasant.
The interior of the store is also clean. The interior of the other stores are also stylish.
The main menu seemed to be fish burgers, but they also had curry, so I ordered the seafood curry.
The quantity was smaller than I expected, so it might be good for smaller appetites.
I wish there was a little more seafood on it!
But I enjoyed relaxing in the restaurant.
Saata andagi store KAME ANDAGI
Sata andagi is an Okinawan doughnut.
There was one eating and drinking area inside this restaurant and three tables for four people on the terrace.
Basically, you’ll be eating and drinking on the terrace. Take-out is also available.
The store number is 8 and is located in the middle of the first level.
Pumpkin is used in this sata andagi, giving it a gentle sweetness.
The outside is crunchy and the inside is fluffy, or should I say, delicious and not shabby at all.
Various toppings are available, including ice cream and cream cheese.
The photo shows rare cheese topping. It was just right, not too sweet.
The size is quite large, so I think one per person would be sufficient.
observation plaza
There is also an observation plaza on Senaga Island, which is beautifully maintained.
There are both stairs and ramps to the top of the hill.
You can also see the ocean and the city of Naha.
The view from the observation plaza is beautiful and serene.
Since Senaga Island is a small island with a circumference of about 1.5 km, two hours is enough time to enjoy the island.
You can enjoy a different atmosphere depending on the time of day you go, as you can see the ocean during the day and it is lit up at night.
If you travel to Okinawa, please visit there.
Thank you for reading to the end.
